I had been thinking upon engraving lettering again. As it must be done in a more deliberate and physically taxing manner than writing into a ground would be, it forces me to consider and reconsider my train of thought thoroughly as I carve. I had wanted to represent the implications of things in my home (plants, pet, materials)— things I willed inside, that travelled through interesting and troubling forces, and that I am now responsible for— and thought that plotting out the planes of a room as scaffolding for the writing would be able to get that across neatly.
